After the myriads of fests in our college that fell face forward, were denied prize money, rose up and were denied prize money again; Joyfest was a welcome change. Where trying to report this would be a futile attempt since judging by the active participation, it can be assumed everyone knew everything; there always is the underlying thought to be appreciated. It was one of those events where one can proudly say that the ethic behind the event was not compromised for feasibility in college standards.

THE OBVIOUS
“Mass Bunk” - probably, these are the most ubiquitous words pasted across most of the departmental doors around the institute. It is in way celebrated as a freedom of expression to put this graffiti up on a wall, black board, door, seminar hall entrance, or benches. The science behind the functioning of this particular exercise, is rather pretty straight-forward...well..atleast on the outside layer.

And so when I sit down with my Solid Mechanics journal to think about what education really means to me, the dismal practical class hopes to pass away happily. That is till a bunch of Mechanical guys trickle in I realize that the tables have an inch of dust on them. My reverie breaks, realization dawns and I realize it’s the Fluid mechanics lab. I frantically turn around and see fellow last benchers struggling to copy experiments from a single journal. Submission?? Today??

I hope none of you got over enthusiastic about my previous section and started some vigorous investing. (If you managed to make a profit, remember… you owe me some ;)). Team Renesa wants us all to dive a bit deeper into the stock market and so here goes nothing number #2 in a question answer format again…!

When I was asked to write an article for Renesa I was amused, for many reasons. For the starters I have contributed to Renesa in all the other ways barring this. Be it running around the college carrying hundreds of magazines on my cycle (yes I had a cycle; for a very brief amount of time though) distributing it in the hostels or featuring in the rumour mill, name it and I’ve done that. So this makes for a neat closure.

The 8th of October 2009 marks a sombre day in the annals of the institute. The death of a fellow student is as a tragic shock for all; more so when it is by his own hand. Sunil Yadav, a first year student from the Chemical Engineering department was one amongst us. We wish his family and friends all the courage and strength to deal with such a difficult time.
However, this is not a time for tears or empty words. It is a time for action – swift, urgent and efficacious. It is a time for quick and immediate steps which will ensure that students residing in the college are safe and sound.
